Reggie has a sixth sense for when we’re heading to the Cape. Before we even cross over the Sagamore Bridge, he seems to know that he’s about to free ball (aka go harness-free) on the beach and get taken everywhere with us. He loves the Cape and appreciates that there are so many dog-friendly things to do.
Dog-Friendly Breweries on Cape Cod

Treehouse Brewing: Right on the water in Sandwich is Treehouse, the famous central MA brewery known for long lines and cult beers. This location has the best views and even makes their bizarre ‘must buy drink tickets online in advance’ policy tolerable.

Provincetown Brewing Co.: A short walk from Commercial Street, this Ptown brewery has both indoor & outdoor seating for dogs. They’ve also got a dog mascot but I’ve never seen him/her in the flesh!

Truro Vineyards: Yes, there’s a vineyard on the Cape! This is a cute spot to spend an afternoon outside on the lawn with locally made spirits and wine, and a very good food truck.

Devil’s Purse: This brewery in Dennis is located in an industrial park so the vibes aren’t great, but it’s a good pitstop in the mid Cape.

Hog Island: Located in Orleans, this brewpub with live music and lawn games has gotten less dog-friendly over the years, but pups are still allowed at some tables outside. The most recent caveat being servers couldn’t serve you if you’re there with a dog so you had to get your drinks & food yourself from the inside bar. There’s also an outside raw bar for local oysters.
Dog-Friendly Restaurants on Cape Cod

Sesuit Harbor Cafe: The best fried seafood, lobster rolls & raw bar right in the harbor in Dennis. And it’s BYOB so pack your cooler… or your picnic basket complete with a dirty martini setup, which is not as far-fetched as it sounds.

The Beachcomber: While the main bar facing the ocean and the dining room don’t welcome dogs, the covered patio with bar-top tables next to the t-shirt stand is dog-friendly. Located in Wellfleet overlooking Cahoon Hollow Beach.

The Canteen: Every summer since 2017, Reggie has visited the back bar and patio at this Ptown mainstay, posing for a photo after we snack on lobster rolls and Aperol Spritzes.
Breakwater Fish Market: Local fish market that also has a takeout window & small patio. They have an awesome poke bowl.

Dog-Friendly Beaches & Parks on Cape Cod

Herring Cove Beach: Unlike most beaches that are part of the National Seashore, Herring Cove allows dogs year-round. There is a little snack shack with toilets at the opposite end of the parking lot, but it’s a loooong walk so we always pack our own drinks and stay for a couple hours.

Provincetown Dog Beach: This year-round beach right on Commercial Street in the West End of Provincetown may be small but makes up for it with its convenient location.
