A few years ago, we were in Nantucket for a family wedding and we brought Reggie with us. Since our accommodations were already sorted and they ended up not allowing dogs, we had to get creative. Instead of smuggling him in under the cover of darkness (considered), we boarded him at Offshore Animal Hospital. Incredibly tolerant of our need to ‘prison break’ him every morning so we could hang with him all day, they even gave Reggie a report card after his weekend stay. The verdict: he passed!

Dog-Friendly Activities on Nantucket

The bulk of our time on Nantucket with Reggie was spent tooling around the island on bikes, spending time at the beach and walking around downtown.
- Biking: We brought the doggy baby bjorn and used the free bikes from our hotel.
- Surfside Beach: The water was a bit rough for lil Reggie, but he had almost the whole beach to himself minus a few surfers and seals.
- Pawsitivity: Local pet shop with custom harnesses and leashes.

Getting to Nantucket

We took the ferry from Hyannis, which allows dogs to ride for free. You can also fly via Cape Air and JetBlue, which both allow dogs to travel in the cabin.
