Between December ‘24 and March ‘25, we packed in A LOT of new countries as we race towards our 50 Before 50/55 Before 55 goals: 9 new countries for Amelia and 11 for Bill. Thanks to our last two trips being maximized to hit as many new countries as possible in the Caribbean and around Asia, our future travels won’t have to be so packed in order to reach our goals.
So, for those keeping score, the current tallies are:
- Bill: 29/55
- Amelia: 26/50
What does that mean for future travels? We can slow the hell down, for starters. We’ll need to average about three new countries per year to hit our goal by 2032, which feels incredibly manageable after the last year. Admittedly, visiting four new countries in the Caribbean over 12 days (especially with a broken ankle) was not my idea of a relaxing vacation.
Some new countries we are currently kicking around for 2026 and beyond:
- Belize
- Brazil
- Argentina
- Uruguay
- Malaysia
- Indonesia
Are there others that should be on our shortlist?
